This is JDPC unit where intervention programmes on Socio-economic development and empowerment of the people, organizations and communities are carried out. JDPC Onitsha builds capacities and capabilities for self-sufficiency and sustainable development. The ultimate goal of this unit is to reduce social and economic exclusions and create an opportunity for each person to create sufficient material foundation upon which to have a dignified, productive, and creative life.
Empowerment to the marginalized
Our concept of economic justice intersects with the idea of overall economic prosperity. There is a belief that creating more opportunities for all members of society to earn viable incomes will contribute to sustained economic growth. When more citizens are able to provide for themselves and maintain stable discretionary incomes, they are more likely to spend their earnings on goods, which in turn drives demand in the economy.
OUR CAUSES
JDPC Onitsha has used these programmes to empower the economically disadvantaged persons and improve the living conditions of the poor and marginalized. More so, several programmes have been organized in eradicating extreme poverty and hunger, and promoting gender equality and empowering women. The hope is that the new information and education awareness/empowerment by JDPC Onitsha for Economic and Social determination kickstarts the alleviation of poverty and fosters new approaches for the elimination of exclusions and injustices in the society.
