Hence, JDPC Archdiocese of Onitsha is launching ‘Clean Your Environment Campaign’

Orphan/Vulnerable Children (OVC)

Factors responsible for the vulnerability of OVC include abandonment by parents, death of one or both parents, living in extreme poverty, abuse by parents or their care-givers, HIV status, marginalization and stigmatization in their immediate environment. Hence, JDPC Onitsha is out to improve the well-being of OVC.

While state security operatives abuse citizens’ rights through illegal arrest, intimidation, harassment and extortion; citizens on their part abuse their follow citizens through unlawful eviction of tenants, illegal and forceful acquiring of properties of the poor and vulnerable people and bribing the security operatives to intimidate and abuse the citizen’s rights. Hence, increased access to justice to the poor and marginalized.

Democracy And Good Governance
Democracy And Good Governance

Our democratization and democratic processes are still bedeviled with lots of problems that include beneficial to a specialized few and their cronies, limited responsiveness and representation, weak opposition party, money politics, structural exclusion of women and youths. Hence, JDPC seeks increased participation of women, youth and marginalized groups

In spite of Anambra being a commercial hub in Nigeria epileptic, power supply, extortion, touting, low excess to credit facilities, domestic violence, forced/early marriage, rape cases, internet fraud cases, etc. remain socio-economic problems in the states that support marginalization and impoverishment of the vulnerable. Hence, the need to improve the livelihood in the communities.

Emergency Response And Humanitarian Interventions

Increased poverty, medical emergencies, hunger and loss of source livelihood are results of occasional fire outbreaks hence need to increase resilience to man and natural disaster.

There are escalation of youth unemployment, many are into substance abuse, cultism, burglary, rape, kidnapping, touting internet fraud, prostitution, thuggery, human trafficking and quest to migrate to overseas to make quick money. Hence, JDPC is keen to enhance entrepreneurial skills of youths to become economically self-dependent.
