RASCALITY IN ANAMBRA TAX DRIVE – OVER 10 AGBERO-LIKE GROUPS NOW COLLECT TAX FOR ANAMBRA STATE GOVERNMENT
Tax drive road terrorism, an impunity and absurdity. No government will function well without taxation. However the mode of tax drive in Anambra State has degenerated to rascality and impunity. Tax contractors and their field workers are more crooked and crude than agberos. JDPC Onitsha decries multiple taxation going on in the commercial cities of the state. In every nook and cranny you will see untidily dressed men and women in different uniforms and different shuttle buses harassing and chasing vehicle owners with audacious and shameless manhandling in the name of traffic offences. Why should in four traffic roundabout only one end will have traffic light and others none. Crudely only this one end traffic light will be put in use over night to trap road users. But why should traffic light put in use when and where there is no traffic just to increase the suffering of people and the so called IGR. Any catch is 30k including keke man who has no 5k in his account. When you are lured to the office the contractor agents will become judges and agberos will disappear as you refused to settle them on the way. Even when you paid in the bank to collect your seized key it will take four or five hours as one of the rascals holding your key that supposed to be the office will be off on duty. Anambra is degenerating to a sorry state. A random questioning of some citizens indicate that this road brigandage is driving business people and visitors away from the state. JDPC Onitsha calls on state government to redesign her mode of tax drive. The citizens need to feel that solution is here not hardship, chaos and impunity.
