*PLANT AND EAT NATURAL (PEN) CAMPAIGN PROJECT*
JDPC Onitsha with support from JDPC Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province launched Plant and Eat Natural (PEN) project to discourage the use of chemical related products in farming that affect human health and biodiversity. Equally the project aims to boost interest in farming, provide a low cost food production, alleviate market price pressures, increase family savings, and improve livelihoods to escape from the cycle of food insecurity and inflation. One hundred and thirty-four participants were trained across the four regions - Dunukofia, Nnobi, Iyiowa and Onitsha region. Regional representatives were trained on home gardening using local tools and organic fertilizers in planting pepper, sword suckers, cucumber, yam bag cultivation and simple way of snail farming. Participants are expected to cascade the training to parishes and other members of the community.
