- SAVES FROM DEATH: For almsgiving saves from death and purges away every sin. Those who give alms will enjoy a good life (Tobit 12:9)
- IT SERVES AS THE BEST FASTING: The Lord told Isaiah, “The fasting I want is this: remove the chains of oppression and the yoke of injustice, and let the oppressed go free. Share your food with the Hungary and open your homes to the homeless poor. Give clothes to those who have nothing to wear, and do not refuse to help your own relatives. Then my favor will shine upon you like the morning sun (Isa58:6-8).
- FAITH WITHOUT GOOD WORKS IS DEAD. Suppose there are brothers or sisters who need clothes and have enough to eat. What good is there in saying to them, “God bless you! Keep warm and eat well!”-if you don’t give them the necessities of life? So it is with faith: if it is alone and includes no action, then it is dead.(James 15-17 )
