JDPC Onitsha observed UN International Day of the Girl Child – October 11, 2019
Every year on 11 October, the International Day of the Girl Child, JDPC Onitsha works with girls, especially school girls to amplify their voices and stand up for their rights. This year, under the theme, “Girl Force: Unscripted and unstoppable,” JDPC Onitsha collaborated with Girls’ Voice in Governance (G-VIG) and DeCODE to observe the event at Inland Girls’ Secondary School, Onitsha, sharing information with students on importance of education, and tackling issues like child marriage, education inequality, gender-based violence, climate change, self-esteem, and girls’ rights. This speaks global goal 4, 5 and 16 (Quality Education, Gender Equality, and Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions respectively).

JDPC Onitsha is ensuring that girl child is not dropped from school due to early marriage, pregnancy, or child labour. Our bursary scheme has been designed to tackle issues face by out-of-school children, eliminating barrier to girl child development.
